The L-Shaped Beer Cozy

Two of them even. A promise long in the making, let's just leave it at that.

It is great knitting for others. There's nothing like the thrill of seeing people enjoy what you make them. I suppose it is abit of an ego thing, something you made from almost nothing, can be worn or used by someone else. One of the best compliments I ever received was as recent as a couple a months ago. It wasn't about how complicated the knitted product was (like a non-knitter would know), it wasn't about how it felt, it wasn't about how pretty it was, or how expensive it looked. It was about the time put into it. Granted, I got a kick-ass steak dinner out of it, but the appreciation of the time and thought put into it is what made it all worth it. Even to this day.

Never really understood the fuss about how handknitted socks just FIT. Well, shit. They're CUSTOM made. That is the beauty of knitting. You make it EXACTLY the way you want it. The OSU socks were a collaboration to begin with. To be made exactly how the wearer wanted them to look and feel. Can you find more perfect socks than that?? I think not.

M loved the Fibonaccis, so after days of reading charts, decided that she may need another pair, and started some hot pink monkeys today.

Made with the Louet received for stealth knitting last year. How fitting.

Knottiness

Can you make up dirty poetry with knitting terms? It is fun. Was told by a friend I needed a more wholesome hobby.

It is a strange feeling to have ass planted on couch without having to do anything but stealth knitting. Love the Shaefer yarn. Love the pattern. Not blowing sunshine up anyone's ass about it either. The sad thing is that this sock is not going to fit me. Sniff. Will be on a Yarn Quest for Django at Stitches. Oh yea.

This weekend has been about the Real Life; Mac n Cheese, peas and hotdogs, a staple in this house hold. Oh yes, I have an unhealthy (been told) addiction to hot dogs. It has to be the ones with natural casing. Snobby hot dogs. Speaking of hot dogs. In a recent discussion on whether certain hot dogs look like they have a bicycle helmet or a fireman's helmet a vote seemed like the natural outcome. I favored the bicycle helmet without budging. Until the argument which put them all to rest "It can put out fires! It's a fireman's helmet ffs!" You can't beat that logic.

Thanking the maker of Sudafed for helping me finish stealth knitting at 4:30 pm this evening. Phewey. Pressure is off. Right now it is all about kicking this motherfucking cold. And adding more projects to Ravelry. Hello, such an addict already.

I think my friend found the knitting magnetic poetry on Interweave's site, through Knitting Daily. It so rocks.

It's just a silly phase I'm going through

The list is different from last year. Not better. Not worse. Just different.

I Can't Quit You Baby - Led Zeppelin

I'm Not In Love - 10 CC

Foolish Games - Jewel

Nothing Ever - Rebecca Tornqvist

Stormy Weather - Lena Horne

I'm a Fool to Want You - Lisa Ekdahl

I Try - Macy Gray

Do I Ever Cross Your Mind? - Bonnie Raitt/Ray Charles

Steal my Kisses - Ben Harper

It's Been Awhile - Staind

Please me Like You Want To - Ben Harper

Remember - Jimi Hendrix

Walk Away - Ben Harper

Diner - Ani DiFranco

Very much the same activities as last year, stealth knitting, and an intense dislike of the celebration of something so stupid as a day to show you love some. Do it every day. A special day doesn't have to be February fucking fourteenth.

I Love Underdogs

Hell. I love all dogs.

Big, small, old, young, decrepit, in perfect health. They are all cute puppies. Good thing today on Super Bowl Sunday. Four dogs, fourteen people in a tiny tiny one bedroom apartment. It was so crowded, it was so crazy, but it was so much fun! Some whoopsie puddles on the floor, alot of "friendliness" from Arlo, mouth to mouth combat, yappiness, and general rowdiness (mostly from the knitters!).

Really not a ton of football talk, just trash talkin' from fair weather fans until they lost. OH YES THEY LOST!!!!!! There was a veggie chili cook off, I think maybe I lost, but learned! Awesome cornbread, cupcakes, fruit salad and floor cake, and the best kitchen crew ever!

It all came together in the end, and it's tired evenings like these, after clean up, with animals snoozing on the couch from all the excitement of the weekend, that you are able to just sit back and realize you have the coolest friends ever.

The last picture may be stretching the truth abit. If not an outright lie. Heh.

Puppies would be Arlo, Willis and Gin. In that order. Unfortunately none of the Rascal, the hot dog! Next time. Btw. Did anybody get a picture of all the Monkey socks that people sported? Excited about Stitches, and all the sock yarn I am going to buy. Oh yea.
