My Left Foot

It really is. The mirrored image tries to lie.

It sort of fits with the theme these last five or so weeks. Feet. Some broken ones. But Gimpy is driving himself nowadays, Hallelujah. Anyway, we are here for knitting content, not medical updates (me lacking in sympathy and all).

Louet Gems was used for the Entrelac sock. The thing about knee highs is this, when you are at regular sock length size (because these are toe up), that little voice in your head which starts justifying not making the knee highs gets louder and louder. Because they are so cute as regular socks, and you WOULD be done with that first sock so quickly, and there is none of that shaping shit for the calf, etc, etc.. But I persevered. Will I ever wear these in public? I highly doubt it, but I still love the sock I made so far. And yes, I will be making the tassels (you need them to hold the sock up. And Elliott would be SO DISAPPOINTED if I didn't..)

The other thing is that I have skis for feet, well size nine, which I think is pretty damn normal, but knitting on 1s (to get gauge), the socks are really too small, I couldn't get them over my heel after awhile. Had to rip out everything above the heel and increase my entrelac squares to 7 stitches, then just eyeballed the sock as I travelled up the leg, increasing the squares one stitch at a time when needed, a few rows with 8 stitch squares, and then the rest with 9 stitch squares. (I suppose I should write that shit down too.) This means the cuff ended up with 102 stitches (each triangle consisting of 17 stitches.) The cuff was made with 1 ktbl 1p, to get that nice and crisp ribbing. Also increased the size of the cuff. (Have to count the rows to figure that one out.)

It seems that people tend to have a love or hate relationship with entrelac. It's soothing to me, and knitting backwards is still fun. And I love the look of it from the inside.

Is there really anything better than sports in a luxury suite and beer? Well, it could be football, but the game last night was a deal-breaker for the Warriors, they had to win, (I was forced to read up on it before the game) so it was very exciting. And I had forgotten that I love to watch real basketball. These are the days when I love my work. We are taken care of. Well. It makes it all worth it. Yeah, you know who you are.

Finally was able to go pick up my birthday present travelling 9000 miles. There are perks with working from home, even if it sucked because it wasn't voluntary today, and I've been high on drugs for most of the day. But how cute are those crawdaddy forks?! And my cool antiquey silver bowl. Mommy finally found a common interest, so now I get all kinds of cool old shit!

These pretty things are going to match my antiquey herring barrel in silver. Yes, it looks like a barrel, and I will bring it out for Midsummer. Mmm, Midsummer.

Pretty socks! And whats wrong with the skirt you have on in the pic for wearing them?

Freakin' unbelievable socks! Love 'em.

Your sock is absolutely awesome. I think that this is the first time that I have been impressed by the look of entrelac. And the color choice is real nice as well. Most excellent! Now quick, cast on the second one!

Very cool sock!
